BEKNETWORK CASE STUDY
Precision Site Matching for Rapid Physician Referral
A global pharmaceutical company needed to identify clinical research sites with the right patient population to enroll in a new atrial fibrillation trial. Within 24 hours of the project kickoff, BEK identified and delivered the first physician-referred, qualified patient. The study had the head start it needed to go from startup to active.
The Problem
Most clinical trials do not reach their recruitment targets on time due to difficulty in identifying and engaging the right matched patient. Most clinical trial recruitment tactics focus on large-scale digital campaigns. While valuable, it often leads to a large number of unqualified patients due to the complexity of clinical trial criteria.
This often results in sponsors taking a reactive approach, leading to a scramble for patients that puts trials in danger of ending prematurely. Our client needed a proactive, high-touch, approach with a rapid timeline to find patients at risk of stroke due to cardiovascular disease from atrial fibrillation.
Our Approach
Leveraging the BEKnetwork, consisting of clinical research sites that utilize the BEKplatform for patient identification, we were able to find and match sites and patient populations that met the sponsor’s clinical study requirements.
The BEKhealth team was given the study’s inclusion/exclusion criteria and used our AI solution across our network of sites to quickly identify a qualified population base as well as a pipeline of patients who may become eligible in the near future. Through the BEKnetwork, we were able to connect the sponsor to participating sites with the best patient populations for their study and create a real-time physician referral program.
